Survey... Mothers Only!!?

I have been looking at alot of medical sites and I am not getting the answers that I am looking for. For all of you women who have had children if you have experienced having a period for the first month or more. I have heard some people have but all medical sites that I have seen have said no it is not possible to have a period at all during pregnancy. It only mentions about spotting. If you have not experienced this and but know people who have you may answer. Thanks Ladies!

Survey... Mothers Only!!?
With my first pregnancy I got my period, a normal heavy flow, and yes my doctor confirmed it as a period, he said that while it isn't the "norm" its not exactly uncommon. (most likey because im not "regular")(for all you who say its spotting, something else, ect.) I continued to get it until I was about 14 weeks along. When I thought I "missed" my period and finally tok a test, I got a positive. So off I went to the doctor and low and behold I was 18 weeks and 3 days pregnant.
Reply:i've heard of mothers having their period and not knowing they were even pregnant til they went into labor. you should talk to your doctor too..
Reply:Any type of bleeding during pregnancy is bad. Talk to a doctor
Reply:It is most common in the first trimester. It has to do with your hormones and the "natural clock" in your body. In some women there is something called a phantom period. You bleed, but very light and maybe off and on for a couple days. Some women also get PMS like symptoms with no bleeding at the regular time every month.

It happens and is not dangerous to you or your child unless it continues into the second and third trimester. Keep an eye open always for heavier bleeding, severe cramping along with the bleeding and/or an odd pain/pressure in the lower back (towards the top or even into the butt crack)
Reply:i had heavy spotting for 4 days AFTER i took a pregnancy test and received positive results. my doctor said it was normal... i did it 2 months in a row with my daughter... which stunk cause that is one of the benefits of being pregnant.... no periods!!!
Reply:I had what I thought was a period.....but I guess not, because I was pregnant! They don't call it a period, although that is what it seems like. If you have bleeding and you know you're pregnant, call your doctor.
Reply:Technically it's not a "period" when you bleed durning pregnancy..

However, it is definitely possible to bleed while pregnant right around the time your period is due.

When I was 4 weeks pregnant, I bled for 4 days - heavy like a period... all the same symptoms as a period.

I went to the ER - everything was fine - the doctors called it a "threatened miscarriage".

3 weeks later at my 7 week ultrasound, I saw my baby - the heartbeat and all... and everything is just fine!

The doc says that sometimes there's just unexplained bleeding during pregnancy. Sometimes it's old blood clearing out of your system, and sometimes it's new, red blood just like a period.

I wish there were more answers. I tried to research the subject, too, as I was terrified that I was having a second miscarriage.

If you find any other helpful information, please send me a link... I'd love to know more on this subject, since it's happened to me!!
Reply:i didn't have my period the whole time while i was pregnant but i did get it during my third month, my doctor told me everything was normal and my body was just "getting rid of what it didn't anymore since i was pregnant" I know a lot of people who have had their periods during the whole pregnancy just because their bodies couldnt get use to being pregnant but everything went fine in the long run and they had perfectly healthy babies.
Reply:Speaking from experience, I have a 6 and 4 year old, with both I had my period for the first month and not just spotting. My daughter (6) they told me in the er I was miscarrying, than had my OB appointment and they said there was nothing wrong. She is happy and healthy, than my son (4) same thing normal period the first month this time I didn't panic b/c I knew what was going on and he is fine. Just don't stress and good luck.
Reply:My mom had her period for 2 months when she was pregnant with me AND my sister....so it is possible. She said it was lighter then a normal period though.
