Do you know where Mount Everest is?

A survey of 1000 adults in Briton has found that one in three are


convinced the worlds highest mountain is in the Alps or tucked away somewhere in Britain!!


The same survey found that half of the adults questioned did not know the Nile was the world's longest river


Half of those questioned had not visited their local river or countryside in the past month while a third had never visited nearby picnic spots.


Apparently DIY superstores are the most frequently visited places


out of the urban and outdoor spaces.

Do you know where Mount Everest is?
Mount Everest, also called Chomolungma or Qomolangma is the highest mountain on Earth, as measured by the height of its summit above sea level. The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in High Asia, is located on the border between Nepal and Tibet, China.

Reply:Well I know it is in Nepal.. But as you say a lot of people are very ignorant especially relating to geography and history,,,People don't read nearly so much, it is where most of my knowledge came from... There are numerous TV channels and programmes on these subjects but how many watch them...Similarly all the info is on the web on computers...But how many bother to look things up? The tendency is to think of more knowledgeable people as eggheads or nerds... Some people seem to despise learning or knowledge... .

Reply:Well that survey is wrong, Amazon river is longer. But it is pretty stupid to think Everest is in Europe. I can't say much for Americans, I heard only around 20% of high school seniors could pick out Germany on a world map.
